Cold Red Review
The Metal Observer
Basically, I think its totally absurd to send out promo copies with
only two tracks. For one thing, a reviewer cant make an entire overview
about a band, which has never ever released an album before and furthermore,
its a waste of money in my opinion. Moreover, it would be really
terrible if the two songs were averagely and uninteresting. But I can
give all-clear because this is not the case with Niota and their 2-track
EP (or should we better say CD-single), both tracks are really good.
According the promo sheet, their music lies somewhere between Poison The
Well, Deftones and Funeral For A Friend and its a fact, that Niotas
sound is somewhere between those acts. The Brits are less melancholic
and dramatic than the Deftones indeed, Ben Keenan (Vocals) is way less
pathetic singing than a Chino Moreno but he has still a powerful and variable
voice. Niota are decently heavier than Funeral For A Friend, in this case,
they are best comparable with Poison The Well. But their ability to create
songs with diversity and feeling, which are still full of quality and
catchiness, keeps up with aforementioned three acts. Paper Fuse and Shatter
are two wonderful tracks and they made me anxious for their first full-length.
If they can keep up this quality on a longplayer, we can expect a sensational
album and a band, which must be count to one of the biggest hopeful newcomers
coming from Great Britain. But actually, they are already big hopefuls.
Great work, lets hope that we will get soon more from them.
